Our History

2001 - Holding Agro Company (Pty) Ltd. is formed

Holding Agro was established with the acquisition of maize mills from OTK Ltd. Since then, the company has grown from a non-branded supplier primarily focussed on regional distribution channels in Mpumalanga and Kwa-Zulu Natal, to a trusted brand and one of the largest players in the maize milling industry in South Africa.

2003 - Acquisition of the Leslie Diverse Processing and Packaging Plant

Looking to diversify the company’s offering, a processing and packaging plant in Leslie, Mpumalanga was acquired. Now, Holding Agro can produce and package foods and feeds for our Top End Retail brands, including Tops Mabele, Pride Beans, Pulses, and Snacks, Drakensberg Pet Foods and Fowl Feeds, and more.

2013 - Holding Agro Devon is converted into an industrial maize mill

A complete upgrade to Holding Agro Devon in 2013 enables the company to supply high-quality industrial products that consistently conform to the customer requirements of an international client base. We have become a powerful, diversified maize and diverse product manufacturer.

2016 – Holding Agro Company (Pty) Ltd. starts upgrades to double its capacity

A three-year plan is set into motion to double Holding Agro’s capacity and further diversify our product offering. Benefitting from economies of scale, we can now provide more to our customers. By the end of this project, we become a national distributor of our product offering.

2019 – Thebe Investment Corporation becomes a strategic long-term shareholder in Holding Agro Company (Pty) Ltd

Committed to ownership transformation within the company, the board concludes an empowerment deal with Thebe Investment Corporation.

2019 – Holding Agro Company (Pty) Ltd. Achieves B-BBEE Level 01

This is the start of a new era for Holding Agro, building on past successes with an invigorated brand and the intellectual capital of its people.
